Makeup & The Seaside

Who doesn't love a combination of the two? A few weeks back I was on set for a super exciting shoot with one of my favourite drugstore brands, Rimmel as part of their Rimmel Road Trip series. Twelve influencers across six colourful cities throughout the UK, exploring new places and most importantly getting to chat all about makeup along the way! Brighton is one of my favourite cities in the South and who better to come along for the ride and show me all the best spots than born and bred Brightonian (and obvious bestie), Suzie!

We spent the afternoon on the pier, ate doughnuts by the sea and had some heated but friendly competition when it came to the arcade games! Then headed back to our hotel to get ready together for our night out in the city. You can see the whole day and everything we got up to in our episode of the Rimmel Road Trip which you can check out here!

Daytime Look

Daytime makeup for me at the moment is all about keeping things simple and effortless. The lazy girl inside me loves to be picky when it comes to makeup in the mornings, and finding a handful of products that can being out your best which still looking natural is such an essential for me.

One of my absolutely favourite ranges from Rimmel is the Match Perfection base products. I've shouted my love for these to just about anybody that will listen and when it comes to affordable products, nothing compares to the Match Perfection Foundation & Concealer for the perfect flawless base.

Something new on my radar though is the Insta Fix & Matte Translucent Powder. This is a completely pigment free powder that acts as an invisible setting shield. It's incredibly finely milled too, so I can apply this liberally under my eyes, around my nose and in all the tricky spots that can be prone to cakeiness.

Another die hard favourite that I always reach for when in a rush is the Kate Sculpting Palette. Bronzer, blush and highlight in one, this cute little compact is everything you need to warm up your skin and add some colour and glow to cheeks.

My eyes are always kept simple for everyday looks, but a little extra step of adding the flesh coloured Scandaleyes Pencil in my water line is such a helpful trick if, like me, you don't get enough sleep and are always rocking red eyes in the morning. Sticking to pencils I also added some warmth & definition around the roots of my lashes with the Magnifies Double Ended Shadow & Liner in Queens of a Bronzed Age, a super rich bronzy brown.

Mascara on the other hand is something I never skip out on. I used the Volume Shake Mascara which claims to stay clump free with every shake of the bottle thanks to a genius little mechanism inside. You can layer and layer this until your hand get tired and clumps will never be an issue.

Evening Look

Evening make up is where I like to take things up a notch and have a little fun. Picking an outfit and taking some extra time to get ready is always half of the fun when it comes to going out for me! Base wise, I stick to my daytime favourites from the Match Perfection range and set everything as normal with the same light weight powder. A few extra steps I like to do pre-foundation however, make all the difference.

Glowy skin is my absolute favourite look for anyone, and by adding a thin layer of the Good to Glow liquid highlighter in place of a primer, skin looks incredibly fresh. Correcting with the Insta Correct & Conceal Palette with it's three shades for dark circles, redness and dullness is also another step I take in order to get an even more flawless base - key when you're wearing a heavy eye or bright lip!

Contouring

Contouring is such a huge part of makeup these days, but honestly it's something I struggle so much with! Any product out there that's going to help me achieve cheekbones worth noticing is going to grab my attention, so when Suzie and I got to try the brand new (and by brand new I mean there were about seven in the country at that point!) Insta Duo Contour Stick, I grabbed for it right away! Both ends twist up to reveal a matte creamy contour and a champagne pearlescent highlighting stick. Unlike some other cream products that are almost impossibly to blend once you've mapped out your lines of contour, this one melts into skin seamlessly, and can be left natural or built up depending on how strong you want those cheekbones to pop!

Winged liner is one of the best ways to bring out eyes, and looks great if you're taking photos too.The felt tip nib on on the Colour Precise Liner is so sharply pointed its perfect for the most precise wing, whether you like yours long short, thick or thin! Enhancing a liquid line with a soft matte shade blended into the crease of my eyes and bottom lash line is a must for me too, and a step that really pulls everything together. The Magnif'eyes palette in London Nudes Calling has nude shade for this, and a host of beautiful neutrals that are definitely my go-to colours.

After even more coasts of the Volume Shake Mascara, my absolute favourite part of an evening look is the lips. Specifically a red lip! Red lipstick is my absolute favourite thing about make up. Finding the right red for you can make you feel unstoppable and I truly believe there's a red out there for everyone! For me the Exaggerate Lip Liner in Red Diva is the perfect base to define lip and keep that bold, rich colour smudge free all night. Matte is also a must for me when it comes to wearing red and Rimmel's The Only 1 Matte lipstick in 500 Take the Stage is highly pigmented yet comfortable enough to wear whether your drinking, talking or dancing your night away.

I had such a great day hanging out with Suzie and discovering some new things to do in Brighton as well as some awesome new makeup products with Rimmel. Make sure to check out the Rimmel Road Trip and all the other episodes which you're there!
